Berjaya Redang Island Resort - sept 2011 Empty Berjaya Redang Island Resort - sept 2011

We checked in to Berjaya Redang Island resort on 14.9.11(3N 4 D) and this are our experiences.

Reception - Greeted by smiling reception who served us with welcome drinks. we were given the Resort Activities list and shown to our room immediately

Room - We took 2 connecting room #490 (king size) & 491(double). Both are clean, air cond works (room 491 too cold) ,tv reception quite OK.Coffee, tea amenities are Ok.

Facilities - Swimming pool is really clean. Pools towel available (allow us to bring out to beach and marine park for snorkelling) There is no beach but we arrange for the driver (RM30 return per Van) to send us to a secluded beach 5 minutes drive from the resort. The transport to Marine Park (a must) is free at scheduled timing but have to pay for snorkeling eqm, life jacket etc (RM25 per set per day ).There are many other paying activites offered

Restaurant at Berjaya - Food choice is limited but what is available is quite good. A seizable portion of Fish and Chip is RM12.00 but a glass of watermelon juice is RM13.50 the fish and chip taste better. You may walked 15 min (or pay the driver to pick you - RM15-RM20) to the nearest restaurant (serves good and cheap food but very very slow)

Overall - The surronding is quire rundown. There are still renovation works on some of the units Except for the pool there is no other facilities hence staying at the resort is most dull. Have spoken to the Manager (cannot remember name) and we were informed the Resort will be closed in end October (moonson season) to upgrade the Spa and the rest of the rooms. There will also be clearing the stairway that lead to the beach. This will be completed come March 2012.

I am quite please with what I have seen of Berjaya Redang Island Resort and the attempts to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Even if there is no improvement to the resort I will come back again.

It is not as bad as the July 11 group experience. probably the resort is now in a better position to receive guests.

    Jane,

The July group stayed at Berjaya Redang Island Spa Resort which has been named as THE TARAAS BEACH AND SPA RESORT.

The Beach Resort that you experience is just a complimentary and it is not compulsory to be given to us member.

Therefore if you end up at THE TARAAS BEACH AND SPA RESORT, you mostly will feel the frustration as the July group.
